Your data
Privacy policy
Goldeneye Gulf is a guide, not a data business. We collect as little as possible, we do not sell anything about you, and we do not run advertising profiles.
Effective August 20, 2026
Who we are
Goldeneye Gulf publishes an independent local guide to the Southwest Florida Gulf Coast. This policy covers this website.
What we collect
Browsing this site. Our hosting and delivery infrastructure processes the technical information any web server needs to serve a page — your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time of the request. These records exist to deliver the site securely and diagnose faults.
Measurement. Nothing that measures your visit loads until you choose it. On your first visit we ask, and every advertising and analytics permission starts switched off. Only if you choose Accept analytics do we load Google Tag Manager and, through it, Google Analytics 4, to record which pages are viewed and which links are followed. Advertising storage, ad personalisation and advertising identifiers stay switched off permanently, and we never pass anything you type — a message, an address, a form answer or a file name — into measurement. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using Privacy Choices in the footer; withdrawing stops future measurement and deletes our analytics cookies. Staff sign-in, our editorial workspace and private preview pages are never measured at all.
Contacting us. When you use the contact and corrections form, we store the name, email address, message and optional page link you choose to give us, together with the reason you selected and the page you sent it from. We use that only to answer you and to check and fix the record you told us about, and it is emailed to our editorial desk. We keep it for as long as we need to handle the enquiry and to keep a record of any correction we made. We do not add you to a mailing list.
To limit automated abuse of that form we also store a one-way, salted fingerprint of the sending network address. It cannot be turned back into an IP address and is not used to profile you.
Accounts. Sign-in exists only for our own editorial staff. Readers do not need an account, and we do not create one for you.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not build advertising profiles or run retargeting.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children.
- We do not require an account to read anything on this site.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site sets measurement cookies from the analytics services named above. They tell us how many people used a page and how they moved through the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; nothing on this site depends on them.
Third parties
Pages may embed video from YouTube. We use the privacy-enhanced player and it does not load until you choose to play the video, so no YouTube cookie is set unless you press play.
Links out to a business's own website, booking system or map take you to a service with its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for what those services collect.
How long we keep things
Technical server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and diagnosis. Aggregate measurement data is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the site. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle and evidence a correction.
Your choices
You can browse without giving us any information about yourself. You can block cookies and analytics in your browser or with an extension. If you have written to us and want your message deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it. Questions about privacy go to the contact page.
